What Is The Doula Program

Birth support that centers you.

PHEI's Doula Support Program connects Black women in [Your Region] with trained, experienced doulas who provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support — before birth, during labor, and through the postpartum period.

Research is clear: doula support reduces cesarean rates, improves outcomes, and leads to more positive birth experiences. Every Black mother deserves that — not just those who can afford it.

01-PRENATAL

Prenatal Support

Up to [X] prenatal visits with your doula. Build trust, create a birth plan, discuss your concerns — in a space that belongs entirely to you.

02-BIRTH

Birth Attendance

Continuous labor support from the moment you call. Your doula stays with you through active labor, delivery, and the first hours after birth.

03-POSTPARTUM

Postpartum Care

Up to [X] postpartum visits within the first weeks after delivery. Infant feeding support, emotional processing, and referrals when you need them.
HOW IT WORKS

Four steps to support.
  • 01 Apply Online

    Complete a short application — about 10 minutes. We'll ask about your due date, location, and any particular concerns. No income verification required for the initial application.

  • 02 Get Matched

    A PHEI coordinator will review your application and reach out within [X] business days. We match you with a doula whose experience aligns with your needs and preferences.

  • 03 Meet Your Doula

    Your first meeting is a no-pressure consultation — a chance to connect, ask questions, and decide if it's the right fit. PHEI covers the cost so you can choose freely.

  • 04 Receive Continuous Care

    From prenatal visits through birth and postpartum, your doula is with you. PHEI pays doula fees directly — you focus entirely on your birth and your baby.
